When in Belgium.....

A weekend away = a weekend of speciality beers, lunchs out, dinners out and snacks in between. From smoked salmon salads ate alfresco in Maastrict to Bratwurst a la Germany accompanied by an array of beers, coffees and wine - Its not every weekend so I say make the most when you can :)

Day 4 and its off to the market.....Vise style

Central car parking space....check
Market basket...check (anyone would think we had plans to buy)

As we enter the start of the market, planning our route so not to miss anything (more importantly not to miss any vital 'market photos') crowds are gathering around the delicious looking fruit and veg stalls, cheese smells fill the air mixing with the fresh bakery aroma of gauffre and pavements are lines with rainbow colours of plants, flowers and bushes. With a mission to find some nice lunch to take back we cant turn down the bargain of raspberry's....3 euros for 10 punnets (why do we need 10? I guess that's the temptation of a cheap price point in today's climate :) ) and to really amaze us 1/2kg of the biggest, juiciest, burgundy coloured cherries (almost cartoon like) for 2 euro 50......I guess our lunch is revolving around fruit or afternoon snack or breakfast or apero....we have enough.
With the end in sight our original plan was a coffee....who were we kidding....its 28 degrees, almost lunch time and were just a 5 minute drive to a riverside bar on the dutch/Belgian border.....Dutch beer time it is :)
