A dedicated 'yellow space' in Selfridges Oxford Street houses the Selfridges branding from cookies to balsamic vinegar, a selection of infused teas to fudge and pickles all with a very homemade / simple packaging design (and we all know how much of a sucker I am for packaging of foods) 

 

 

An oversized mosaic inspired model of Harry Selfridge greets you into the area and one wall is a collage of newspaper articles based around the infamous department store. Don't go here with the intention of not buying.....It wont happen!!!!!

Summer through a window

Its a shoe thing

Following on from my recent post on Selfridges 'shoe carnival' you may wonder how I managed to miss this spectacle of a window display, my excuse -  this amazing piece of art created using silver saucepans isn't exhibited in the most prominent of windows. Friday afternoon saw me taking a wander through Marlebone and approaching Selfridges from the very back end of Duke Street and we all know that as a shopper you have 9 times out of 10 already been enticed into the store by the side doors and probably never ventured as far as the very end of the department store from the outside...I shall definitely make more of an effort in future, I mean that fabulous outfit you just spotted will still be there in five minutes :)

Bespoke VS Carnival

Tailors mannequins, toiles and remnants of a day in the studio meets dodgems, whizzing podiums and grab a shoe machine. Oxford Street showcases the shoe carnival whilst Duke Street strips fashion back to the design studio side of the garments...no guesses needed as to which infamous department store I am talking about. Two very different concepts, two very different methods of display....minimal VS high tech, nothing about these two installations correlates. Selfridges has yet again pulled two exceptional window artworks out of the bag.

Window wonderland

So I'm guessing that this week will see myself and many others taking pics of the infamous LFW windows (well once there installed) Roll on Friday, not only is it break up day (YES a WHOLE WEEK off work) a day in central and potentially a nice 4 o clock finish which will see me heading back down to Oxford Circus (quick Topshop dash!!!), Bond Street and South Molten Street to get snapping the creative delights the stores will have to offer. For now heres a few pics from all time favs Selfrdiges.
